The other day, the Golden Boy promotion company unexpectedly expressed interest in holding a duel between their Mexican middleweight Jaime Mungia (41-0, 33 KOs) and world light heavyweight champion Russian Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs).
Obviously, we can only talk about the weight category up to 76.2 kg, where Bivol is ready to go down for revenge with the absolute champion of the division Canelo Alvarez in the second half of this year.
British promoter Eddie Hearn, with whom Bivol works closely, is generally not opposed to this option. But with reservations.
“Oh, yes, I would be happy to see this fight,” Hearn did not hide. “As for Munguya, I can say that they are doing something strange with him. I like this guy, he’s a spectacular fighter.”
At the same time, Eddie does not believe that such a duel will turn out to be competitive.
“As for me, Munguia vs. Canelo, Munguia vs. Golovkin, yes. But against Bivol, he has no chance of just taking even one round, ”said the British promoter.
And yet, Hearn doubts that the voiced intentions are honest: “If you have not shown any intention to participate in dangerous battles before, then why would you now choose Dmitry Bivol?”
Earlier, Hearn voiced a plan for Bivol.
