Yesterday, a press conference was held with the main participants of the boxing evening, which will be held on November 5 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi (UAE). In the main event, WBA Super light heavyweight champion Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs), who plays for Kyrgyzstan, will fight his mandatory challenger Mexican Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs).
The champion was asked not only about the upcoming fight, because Bivol, by and large, gained fame only in May of this year – he upset (at that time) the leader P4P rating Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez.
“Now they recognize me more and more, —
tells champion. – They recognize me in the USA in supermarkets. Now they know me even in Mexico. I was in Kyrgyzstan. And there, too, many people recognize me. And they are very proud of me, because I was born in this country. And they know that I won that great fight against Canelo. Will there be a rematch or not? I dont know. Now I try not to think about it. If Canelo wants, then we will agree. Why not?”
Bivol was asked that Alvarez was allegedly still interested in conquering the cruiserweight and wants to face off against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk. The champion laughed: “I think it’s better for him to fight not with Usyk, but with Anthony Joshua. Canelo chose to fight Gennady Golovkin instead of an immediate rematch, as he was already signed to the fight. This is business. This is how everything works here. This is fine. I already beat him. I don’t really need to do it again. Except for the money. But that’s not the most important thing.”
Yesterday, the fight Bivol – Ramirez was officially announced. The first statements of boxers appeared. It’s funny that Golovkin, ahead of the fight with Canelo, said: “I don’t need to be Bivol to beat Saul.”
