Beterbiev addressed Bivol after his knockout victory over Smith

With an early victory over Callum Smith, reigning WBC, IBF and WBO light heavyweight boxing champion Artur Beterbiev has confirmed his readiness to step up for a unification fight against his WBA and IBO titleholder Dmitry Bivol.

“Yes, I have wanted this fight for several years now,” the Russian boxer said in a post-fight interview. “For the last four years he’s been saying that the next fight will be with me, but he never did it. But we will meet. I’m watching you!”

The title fight between Artur Beterbiev and Callum Smith, headlining an evening of boxing in Quebec City, Canada, ended at the 2:00 mark of the seventh round after the Brit was knocked down for the second time and his corner refused to continue the match.

Dmitry Bivol successfully defended his WBA championship belt three weeks ago and also cleaned up his IBO title by defeating Briton Lyndon Arthur by unanimous decision over twelve rounds at Riyadh Boxing Night.

According to available information, the bout for the title of absolute world champion in boxing in the light heavyweight division between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will take place this year in Saudi Arabia.
