Benil Dariush doesn't believe in fight with Charles Oliveira

Despite the fact that the postponed fight between Charles Oliveira and Benil Dariush was officially announced as the second most important event of the UFC 289 tournament, the American does not have confidence that the Brazilian will enter the octagon on June 10.

“At the moment, I don’t have confidence that this guy will go to the fight,” Dariush said in an interview with ESPN. “So I’m just training hard and I’ll be ready to go up against anyone they put up against me. On May 6, I was ready to fight anyone – Arman Tsarukyan offered to come on as a substitute, and there were several options in welterweight. I was ready, but it didn’t happen.”

“I want to fight Charles because he’s number one and he’s a great fighter, a great champion, but I’m not sure this fight will happen. If not, I want to fight the next best in the rankings because I know they won’t give me a title shot just like that. I could fight Arman Tsarukyan or some of the top welterweights, Dustin Poirier would be a great option – I don’t care, I just want to fight.”

Earlier, representatives of the strongest league in the world officially announced that the lightweight contender fight will take place on June 10 at UFC 289 in Vancouver, Canada.
