UFC Fight Night 179 tournament bout
This coming weekend, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, the UFC will hold its tournament for the third time in a row on Yas Island, in Abu Dhabi (UAE). In the main fight of the UFC Fight Night 179 card, fans will probably see a fight for the title of contender # 1 for the title.
The third most important duel of the show will be the battle between the unpretentious heavyweights Rothwell and Tybura.
In December 2019, Rothwell managed to break a three-game losing streak by knocking out the long Stefan Struve. Following this in May, “Big Ben” was not without problems on the points of yesterday’s light heavyweight Ovince Saint Preux.
Tybura has a similar situation. Between November 2017 and September 2019, he lost four out of five fights, three of them by knockout. However, this year the Pole’s record is 2-0. In February, he defeated the representative of Moldova, Sergey Spivak, by unanimous decision, and then his duel at the June UFC 250 show against Russian Maxim Grishin ended with the same result.
Prediction for the fight
Rothwell can be safely categorized as a drummer. This is a slow-moving heavyweight with a powerful punch and the ability to swallow many opponent’s blows.
Tybura is a more versatile fighter, he can trade blows and send knockouts, while he is strong on the ground.
Tybura can win this fight if he gets Rothwell on the ground, but the American is great at defending against leg passes, so this fight will probably take place in the standing position. And on his feet, Rothwell looks preferable, which should provide him with a victory for the referee’s notes or a knockout in the second half of the meeting.
