Bellator plans to open a new men's division

For the first time since 2014, Bellator MMA plans to add a new division to its roster.

The organization is expected to announce the launch of the men’s flyweight division in the coming days, although the exact date of the implementation of this idea remains unknown. This was reported on condition of anonymity by informed sources close to the situation.

The men’s flyweight division will be the tenth active weight division in Bellator, two fewer than the UFC, which also has a women’s bantamweight and first flyweight division.

Although the line-up for the new division has yet to be determined, its main representative is expected to be former Bellator and Rizin bantamweight title holder Kyoji Horiguchi, who has competed in the flyweight division several times throughout his career.

The representative of Japan was supposed to fight in the flyweight division against Ray Borg in April, but he pulled out of the fight due to weight problems and was fired from Bellator.
