Bellator champion Eblin explained his run-in with UFC champion Edwards

Reigning Bellator middleweight champion, Johnny Eblin, explained why he lunged at current UFC welterweight titleholder, Leon Edwards, after he defeated the Brit’s brother, Fabian Edwards, early at Bellator 299 in Dublin.

“It’s all emotion,” MMAJunkie quoted the American as saying. “Fabian’s brother is a great fighter and I sincerely hope he beats Colby Covington, who I fucking hate. Colby sucks. But yeah, I want to fight Leon Edwards.”

“He’s one of the best guys in the world, and I want to prove that I’m one of the best in the world. You have to fight everyone. He’s not in my weight class, but he might move up to middleweight eventually. After the fight, I went up and apologized to him and told him it was all emotion. I stopped the conflict and I don’t have any animosity towards him. I just want to fight him.”

The middleweight title fight, which headlined the organization’s Irish event last weekend, ended at the 0:21 mark of the third round with Eblin winning by technical knockout.

The UFC welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington will headline UFC 296, which takes place Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.
