Bellator 301 results: Jackson knocked out Amosov, Shabliy in the grand prix final

Ukrainian fighter Yaroslav Amosov was unable to extend his impressive winning streak to 28 fights and lost the Bellator welterweight championship belt with a crushing defeat against Jamaican native Jason Jackson.

The bout, which headlined the Bellator 301 event in Chicago, ended at the 2:08 mark of the third round after the challenger stunned the champion with a series of left side kicks and straight right punches before finishing off his shocked opponent in the parlay.

Before that, Jackson had stopped virtually all of Amosov’s attempts to take the fight to the floor, and also dominated him in the standup, giving the Ukrainian serious trouble with knees and a right uppercut.

In the second most important event of the event, American Patrick Meeks successfully unified the interim and current Bellator lightweight titles by finishing his compatriot Sergio Pettis with a rear-naked choke in the second round.

The main card opened with a Bellator lightweight grand prix semifinal bout between Alexander Shabliy and Patricky Freire, in which the Russian defeated the Brazilian by unanimous decision 50-45 three times and advanced to the finals of the event.

Other results included successful performances by Russian fighters Timur Khizriev, who defeated Justin Gonzalez by unanimous decision, Ramazan Kuramagomedov, who finished Randall Wallace by rear-naked choke, and Islam Mamedov, who won a split decision over Killis Mota.
