Bellator 299 results: Eblin knocked out Edwards, Magomedsharipov and Bilostenny won early wins

Reigning Bellator middleweight champion, Johnny Eblin, successfully defended his title against top-ranked Fabian Edwards, proving he is the dominant force in the division.

The fight, which headlined Bellator 299 in Dublin, ended early in the third round after the American sent the Brit to the canvas with a right jab and then worked powerfully in a ground-and-pound finish to finish his opponent at the 21-second mark.

Edwards gave an even fight to the champion in the first two rounds, as reflected by scores of 20-18, 18-20 and 19-19 on the judges’ scorecards, and also managed to inflict a gruesome elbow dissection on Eblin.

Immediately after the match ended, an emotional Eblin nearly scuffled with the current UFC welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, who was securing his brother and was unhappy with the American fighter’s behavior at the end of the fight.

In the second main event of the event, American welterweight Aaron Pico finished Portuguese Pedro Carvalho by technical knockout in the first round.

From other results we should mention the successful performances of Russian fighters Hasan Magomedsharipov, who finished Piotr Niedzielski of Poland by arm-triangle choke in the second round, and Sergey Bilostenny, who knocked out Kasim Aras of Germany in the first round.
