Belal Muhammad ready to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov

Belal Muhammad, the UFC’s No. 2 ranked welterweight prospect, plans to make his first title defense against Shavkat Rakhmonov, who is ranked No. 3 in the top 10, if he defeats current division champion Leon Edwards.

“I’m not going to let anyone go unopposed,” MMAnews quoted the American as saying. “Shavkat will be next. We’re here to create a legacy – we’re going to break all these dudes.”

It was previously reported that a welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad would be part of the UFC 300 anniversary event on April 13 in Las Vegas, however, the title fight has yet to be officially announced.

Belal Muhammad, 35, has not lost in ten consecutive matches, defeating Gilbert Burns by unanimous decision in his last fight.

Kazakhstan’s Shavkat Rakhmonov, 29, is undefeated and riding a streak of six early wins in the UFC, most recently against Stephen Thompson, finishing Vanderboegh with a rear-naked choke in the second round.
