Australian government takes away half of UFC fighters’ fees

Australia is not a good place for UFC fighters to perform, who are being robbed of nearly half of their fees by the local government.

This was reported by lightweight John Makdessi, who lost by unanimous decision to Australian Jamie Mullarkey in the preliminary card of the event at UFC 293 in Sydney.

The Canadian, who earned $58,000 for the fight, posted an official document on social media showing that the Australian government took $26,100 in local tax from him, while another $3,438 was deducted from him by the league for medical care and the flight of an alternate second.

The fighter deleted the post shortly after publication.

Recall that the main event of the Australian numbered event was the title fight between Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland, in which the American won a sensational victory by unanimous decision and became the new UFC middleweight champion.
