Aspinall addressed Jones after his win over Pavlovic

British fighter Tom Aspinall, who won the interim UFC heavyweight title in a bout with Russian Sergey Pavlovic, responded to the division’s current champion, Jon Jones, who praised his performance.

“I’ve also seen Jon say nice things about me on the podcast, and that’s really nice,” the Brit said at the press conference following the UFC 295 event in New York City. “It’s always nice to hear good things about yourself, especially from someone you look up to.”

Aspinall is hoping there is something behind the injury-recovering American’s words and he will choose him as his next opponent over Stipe Miocic.

“Thank you, John. Just give me the opportunity, John. Let me do this. Give me my dream fight. Why not? I just realized one dream of mine, so give me my dream fight. Let me fight for my legacy, please!”

If his entreaties don’t work and Jones fights Miocicic, the British fighter is willing to sit idle in anticipation of a bout with the winner of this confrontation.

“No, I don’t want to wait a year. I definitely don’t want to sit idle all year. Honestly, I think me and Jones should fight. But if I have to wait a year, I’ll do it. It’s a fight I really want. Me and Jon in the UK is just a dream come true for everybody. The UFC, the fans, everybody in general, will love it.”

Recall that the fight between Tom Aspinall and Sergey Pavlovich, which became the second most important event of the numbered event, ended already at the 69th second of the first round with a knockout defeat of the Russian.
