The newly minted owner of three light heavyweight titles (up to 79.4 kg) Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KOs) from Canada commented on the victory in the unification fight over American Joe Smith Jr. (28-4, 22 KOs).

Just in New York (USA), Beterbiev dealt with Smith in just two rounds, sending three knockdowns before the referee stopped the fight after another shock to Joe.

“Once I wanted to become a good boxer, maybe that’s why today I was a little better than before. My coach told me that I was not far from becoming a good boxer, ”said Arthur.

“Joe opened up a bit and it was a little easier for me to get to him,” the winner said. – When both boxers have a good punch, both try to get (the opponent) first. This time I was lucky and got it first.”

When asked who he prefers to fight next – with mandatory challenger from Britain Anthony Yard or WBA title holder Russian Dmitry Bivol, Beterbiev answered unequivocally:

“Unification fights are more interesting, they are more motivating. I want to be the undisputed champion.”

Meanwhile, Yard threatens to do to Beterbiev the same thing that he did to Smith – video.
