The unified WBC / IBF / WBO light heavyweight champion (up to 79.4 kg), representing Canada Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KOs) said that it would be interesting for him to fight with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0 , 13 KOs) in the professional ring.
Recall that Usyk currently competes in the heavyweight category (over 90.7 kg) and also owns three titles – WBA, IBF and WBO.
“Now everyone says that Usyk is at the top, that he is so cool there that I envy him. I don’t know… – Beterbiev thinks. – I also try to go along my line normally. I see no reason to envy him or anyone else.”
“Honestly, I would be interested in professionals (to have a fight with Usyk), admits Artur. – We met three times in amateur boxing – once in 81 kg and twice in 91 kg. At 91 kg, you know the result, and I was just interested to see how everything would turn out in the professionals. There was a purely sporting interest.
“Now, of course, I don’t think about this fight (with Usyk),” he added.
Meanwhile, British promoter Eddie Hearn suggested that Canelo would have been easier with Beterbiev than with Bivol.
