Arman Tsarukyan breaks down the fight between Makhachev and Porier

The number one ranked lightweight in the UFC, Arman Tsarukyan, considers Islam Makhachev the favorite in the upcoming title fight with Dustin Puryear, but does not rule out a quick knockout victory for the American.

“I see Islam trying to push him to the net, to move him and hold him, to do a sub-match,” the Russian told the New York Post. “But if he can’t do that, it will be dangerous for him to box with Porier, because Dustin is on another level – his punches, his speed, he can knock out Islam very quickly.”

“That’s why Islam will try to move him as quickly as possible. I see Islam as the favorite in this fight, but I would put money on Dustin Porier winning by knockout because it could happen”

Should Dustin Porier win, Islam Makhachev will likely get an immediate rematch, but Arman Tsarukyan will wait for the title fight either way.

“I’ll be waiting for the title fight. I know the UFC will give me a chance. They don’t do nonsense and they organize real fights.”

The lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Porier will be the main event of UFC 302, which will take place on June 1 in Newark.
