UFC lightweight number four Arman Tsarukyan, who is with Fedor Emelianenko’s team in the first phase of preparations for his fight against Charles Oliveira in Prielbrusie, answered the question of whether he can be considered a Russian fighter.
“I am one hundred percent a Russian fighter,” Tsarukyan said in an interview with the channel “Ushataika”. “I grew up here, trained here, I train here, went to school here, went to university here with a Russian passport. I just speak for Armenia, as there are no Armenian fighters in the UFC. I would like to represent Armenia and at the same time Russia, of course.”
Furthermore, Tsarukyan hopes to one day receive an invitation to the Kremlin and meet with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
“If they ask me to choose one city that you don’t want to leave for the rest of your life, I would choose Moscow. Moscow has everything you could wish for – money, infrastructure, education, people, a lot of compatriots, it’s a great city. I haven’t been to the Kremlin – Vladimir Vladimirovich hasn’t invited me yet. If I win the belt, maybe he will call me. I’m waiting, Vladimir Vladimirovich!”
Keep in mind that the challenger fight between Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan will take place on April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas, and the winner of this confrontation will challenge the current champion of the division, Islam Makhachev, this summer.
