Anthony Pettis defeated Roy Jones Jr.

Former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis made a successful professional boxing debut with a sensational victory over former five-weight world boxing champion Roy Jones Jr.

The fight, which led the Gamebred Boxing 4 tournament in Milwaukee, went all the way, following the results of eight rounds of which the judges by the majority of votes with a score of 77-75, 78-74 and 76-76 gave the victory to Showtime, who played at the home arena.

“He’s a legend in the sport,” Pettis stated after the fight. “I’m going to take one fight at a time. My professional boxing record is 1-0 and I’m looking forward to what the future has in store for me. I had a great team around me and I really wanted to win.”

Entering the ring, Jones said that this would be his farewell fight, but it seems that an unexpected defeat made adjustments to his plans.

“I like to go out and entertain the fans,” said the legendary boxer. “I think it was a good fight. He did a great job and I think we could have a good rematch. I do not participate in exhibition fights, only real fights. For 54 years old, this is very good.”

In the co-main event of the event, former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort defeated former Strikeforce middleweight title holder Ronaldo “Jacare” Sousa twice by unanimous decision, 57-55 and 58-54.

In the third round, Belfort was close to an early victory, knocking down his opponent twice, however, Jacaret was able to get up and return to the fight.

In the third most important event of the tournament, former UFC Featherweight Champion, Jose Aldo, tied the fight with his former colleague and rival Jeremy Stevens.

After six rounds of the match, one referee gave the Brazilian a 58-56 victory, while the other two gave it a 57-57 draw.

“Jeremy is a very cool guy – I knew that something like this would happen,” Aldo said after the fight. “This is my second boxing fight. In the corner they told me that I was winning by a wide margin, and I decided to fight carefully. Jeremy is a very dangerous opponent, he has knockout power, and this is a different weight category, but I don’t understand the judge’s verdict. I think I won easily. I beat him, I didn’t let myself be beaten, so I don’t understand it ”
