Despite the unexpected defeat of Deontay Wilder, former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, is still ready to fight the American, scheduled for March 9.
“I’m not sure what’s going to happen, but I think from the fans’ point of view, if the fight is canceled, they’ll be even more annoyed,” MMAmania quoted the Brit as saying. “I’ve always understood what this game represents. This is the elite level of boxing where nothing can be predicted. Wilder suffered a setback, but on another day things could turn out differently”
“I think we can still do it. I think I’m a huge threat, Wilder is a huge threat and we can put up amazing numbers if we do that. But I’ll leave it to the managers, trainers, promoters – let them make the decision. I’m ready to fight whenever and whoever I want to fight.”
Last weekend at the Riyadh Boxing Night in Riyadh, Deontay Wilder lost twice by unanimous decision to New Zealand’s Joseph Parker over twelve rounds with scores of 120-108 and 118-111, while Anthony Joshua gave Otto Wallin a showy beating in the main event, forcing the Swede’s corner to abandon the fight after the fifth round.
