Anthony Joshua confirms fight with Deontay Wilder

Former heavyweight boxing champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder will share the ring later this year.

The British boxer announced this in an interview with KayPhysical.

“Yes, this fight will take place. This is public news. We agreed and we will do it in December,” Joshua said, without specifying where exactly the fight will take place.

The American side has not yet commented on this information.

Former WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua got his career back on track earlier this month with a unanimous decision win over American Jermaine Franklin. Prior to that, the Briton suffered two defeats in a row, losing by unanimous and then by a separate decision to the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

Former WBC title holder Deontay Wilder closed two early losses to Tyson Fury last October by knocking out Finnish heavyweight Robert Helenius in the first round.

Previously, heavyweights have not met each other in the professional ring.
