Andre Ward: Lomachenko should be Haney’s next opponent

October 29 on the small stage of the sports complex Madison Square Garden in New York (USA), ex-lightweight hegemon Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) will fight in the measure of an intermediate fight with unbeaten American prospect Jemaine Ortiz (16-0-1, 8 KOs).

Vasily Lomachenko – Jemaine Ortiz: forecast and bets for the fight on October 30

Presumably, in case of victory, the Ukrainian will be given a second chance to become the absolute world champion – he will fight with the owner of all division belts, American Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs).

Boxing legend and TV channel commentator ESPN Andre Ward believes that “Loma should definitely be Haney’s next opponent. And, most likely, it will be so. You can’t pull, because it is not known how many more Devin will fight in lightweight. I think Loma is the perfect opponent for Haney.”

The champion is ready to give a fight to the Ukrainian veteran: “This is exactly the fight that I need.”

And in the Ukrainian team, they prefer to close the issue with Ortiz first. Lomachenko’s manager Egis Klimas is “a little” lying when he says that “Jemaine is the coolest prospect in the division. And who, if not him? He has a record of 16-0 (yes, Aegis accidentally forgot about the fight in which Ortiz was knocked down twice and ended in a draw). This is a young, hungry and dangerous fighter. But that’s why we love Lomachenko. He is ready to take risks. He loves challenges. That’s what makes Loma Lomoi.”

Lomachenko also talked about “motivation, which is now even greater than it was on the eve of the (lost) fight with Teofimo Lopez. I believe that God will give me another chance. And I’m ready to accept it. If I beat Ortiz, then maybe we will sign a contract to fight Haney. I believe I will beat Devin.”

Commentator ESPN Mark Kriegel: “Remember what happened last year? Lomachenko was supposed to fight with the holder of all belts George Kambosos, but all his plans were confused by the war in Ukraine. And then, instead of him, Haney entered the ring and beat Kambosos. I would like Vasily to still get his chance.

In the meantime, Vasily shared his opinion about “American Lomachenko”, Crawford, Haney and Usyk’s evening. And the Ukrainian also talked about the words of Malignaggi and about the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and his return to the ring.
