UFC on ESPN 35 tournament bout
The fight will take place on May 1 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex mini-arena and will become part of the main card of the UFC on ESPN 35 tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 03:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
As part of the featherweight division, Andre Fili (21-8) will fight Joanderson Brito (12-3-1).
Since 2020, Fili has managed to win only once in four fights. He fought his last fight in June 2021. In the second round of a successful fight for him, Fili poked Daniel Pineda in the eye and he failed to continue the fight after that, as a result of which the fight was declared invalid.
Brito has only one UFC appearance on his resume. In January of this year, the Brazilian made his league debut with a unanimous decision loss to Bill Algeo.
Prediction for the fight
Brito is a versatile finisher, but he won his victories over opponents of a very modest level. But Fili is a fairly experienced fighter and the quality of his opposition cannot be compared with Brito’s rivals.
Brito on paper may be a threat to Fili on the ground, but the Brazilian’s level as a good grappler is questionable. In the stance, Fili, who has a strong jaw, should not have any special problems with him. Due to his functional and striking skills, Fili can afford not to take risks and beat Brita from a distance. We do not rule out an early victory for the American in the second half of the meeting, when Brito can run out of steam, as he did in the fight against Algeo.
