In the American promotion of Khabib Nurmagomedov – Eagle FC – a number of weight categories will differ from those adopted in the UFC. Nurmagomedov spoke about this at a press conference in Miami.
Eagle FC will have weight classes up to 165 pounds (up to 74.84 kg) and up to 175 pounds (up to 79.38 kg) – there are no such weight classes in the UFC, Bellator and other major MMA leagues. At the same time, there will be no category up to 170 pounds (up to 77.11 kg) in Eagle FC.
In the Russian Eagle FC, the weight categories are fully consistent with those in the UFC.
The first Eagle FC tournament in the USA will take place on January 28, 2022 in Miami. It will be led by the fight of heavyweights – Russian Sergey Kharitonov and Surinamese Tyrone Spong.
Also at the press conference, it was announced the signing of a contract with former UFC lightweight title contender Kevin Lee. He will compete in the 165 pound division.
