The absolute champion of super middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) is set to have a rematch with the holder of the WBA Super light heavyweight title (up to 79.4 kg) Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KO) if on September 17 he wins the third fight against Gennady Golovkin, and Bivol, in turn, will upset Gilberto Ramirez on November 5.

According to British promoter Eddie Hearn, Alvarez’s team has already given him instructions to set the stage for a rematch with Bivol, whom the Mexican lost on points in May this year.

“I received instructions from (Alvarez’s coach) Eddie Reynoso to rematch Bivol if Canelo wins on September 17th. This is the fight Alvarez is after,” Hearn says. – Obviously, from a financial point of view, it is three to four times more profitable for Bivol to fight with Alvarez than with Beterbiev. But he also wants to be the undisputed champion, and Beterbiev against Bivol is one hell of a fight.”

It is worth noting that earlier Alvarez said that he would lose interest in a rematch with Bivol if he lost to Ramirez on November 5.

“The belts don’t play any role here,” Hearn comments. “Alvarez just wants to beat the guy he lost to. He does not want Bivol to lose to Ramirez, because he himself wants to be recognized as the first offender of Dmitry. I think Alvarez will only be happy if Bivol gets a spectacular victory (against Ramirez), and will have a rematch with him if he defeats Golovkin on September 17th.

A couple of days ago, Alvarez announced his goal for a third fight with Golovkin.
