Former World Light Heavyweight Champion Alexander Gvozdyk from Ukraine
toldwhat he thinks about the fight between Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) and Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs), which took place in May and ended with Bivol’s victory on points, and also spoke about Alvarez’s upcoming trilogy with Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs), scheduled for September 17, and a possible rematch between Canelo and Bivol.
Recall that Gvozdik was one of Alvarez’s sparring partners when he was preparing for a duel with Dmitry.
What do you think about the fight between Canelo and Bivol?
– It was a good fight. I think Canelo hasn’t shown his full potential. He can do much better. I think they had some problems before this fight. Let’s see what happens in the rematch if there is a fight against Golovkin and if Canelo wins.
— Do you know Bivol?
“I happened to run into him a few times, but we’re not friends. I know him, I can shake his hand, but no more.
– And how will the third fight between Golovkin and Canelo end?
– I dont know. This is an interesting fight.
Golovkin has gotten a little older.
— Yes, that’s true, but Golovkin for me is the kind of person who took very good care of himself. Even at 40, he is at his best. Therefore, this is definitely a difficult and top opponent for anyone. He is one of the best. He’s on my list
p4pand it will definitely be an interesting fight because I like Golovkin. I respect both of them even though things aren’t going well between them.
“If Canelo beats Golovkin, I look forward to a rematch against Bivol. I’m sure it will be completely different.
– I think so too. Look, don’t get me wrong, Bivol did a great job. He won, he outboxed him, but I think Canelo kind of helped him in that fight. It’s my opinion. People will think I’m jealous. I’m definitely not jealous. I’m just trying to stick to what I’ve seen. Bivol had a great performance, a good fight, but he didn’t fight 100% Canelo.
“It looks like Canelo was trying to land a big punch.
– He invested in strikes, was not active enough. Something happened, but I don’t know what.
Gvozdyk also spoke about the Usyk-Joshua rematch and the return of Lomachenko
