Aljamain Sterling responded to Dana White’s criticism of him

Former UFC flyweight champion Aljamain Sterling, who lost the title a month ago against Sean O’Malley, has no doubt that his defeat made the management of the world’s strongest league happy.

“Dana White came up to me after the fight, and you could tell by the look on his face that he was happy,” Sterling said on another edition of The MMA Hour program. “And how could he not be happy? The Golden Goose got the victory, and that happens one time out of ten. I think we all knew how it was supposed to go, but by making a mistake, I presented the guy with a win on a silver platter.”

“Dana couldn’t believe that I had just given him what he wanted myself. I guess he thought this fight was going to turn out a lot harder for Shawn. He wasn’t too eloquent with me, just asked, ‘Are you okay?’ and that was it, but you could tell by the look on his face.”

Sterling also commented on his boss saying that his public statements are very different to what he says in private.

“I can say the same thing about him. In private he’s a wonderful person, but as soon as he takes the microphone and starts talking about me, I’ve never once heard him say anything good. They say I’m perpetually disgruntled, but I did everything they asked – I didn’t demand a fight with the number six in the rankings, and I only fought the best.”
