Alistair Overeem banned for a year and stripped of victory over Badr Hari

Former DREAM, Strikeforce and K-1 champion Alistair Overeem, who failed a doping test last October after the final match of the trilogy against Badr Hari, has been suspended for one year and stripped of his victory in a principled confrontation.

In addition to this, the Dutch fighter has been removed from the rankings of the organization GLORY under whose banner the fight took place, and also notified that he will have to return the bonus for the victory.

A month after the kickboxing match, it became known that Overeem had tested positive for a banned substance, however, information about which drug was found in his body is still closed.

Having beaten Hari by unanimous decision 29-26 and 28-27 four times, Overeem planned to challenge reigning GLORY champion Rico Verhoeven in his next fight, but the organization had to adjust its plans.

Previously, Overeem and Hari had two fights – in December 2008 at the K-1 Dynamite tournament, Overeem knocked out the opponent in the first round, and a year later, Hari took a convincing revenge in the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009, forcing the referee to stop the fight after several knockdowns .

Alistair Overeem, 42, returned to kickboxing last year after coming to the end of his ten-year run in the UFC, where he made one unsuccessful bid for the heavyweight championship belt in a knockout loss to Stipa Miocic.
