Alexander Shlemenko’s likely opponent has been named

Former Bellator middleweight champion, Alexander Shlemenko, could return to action this March under the RCC league banner.

“I would like to make an appearance in March,” the organization’s press office quoted Storm as saying. “The head of the RCC, Nikolai Klimenko, has already offered me an interesting name. I won’t name him now, but if everything works out, it will be a rematch.”

Informed sources report that Shlemenko’s opponent could be Brazilian Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, with whom the RCC league has already tried to organize a fight for the Russian in 2022.

If this fight takes place, it will be a rematch – in April 2006 at the Jungle Fight 6 tournament in Brazil, Jacare finished the Russian with an arm-triangle choke in the first round.

In the spring of 2021, 44-year-old Ronaldo Souza suffered his fourth straight defeat, losing by leveraged elbow to Andre Muniz, after which he was fired from the UFC, where he had competed for eight years since being absorbed by Strikeforce.

Alexander Shlemenko, 39, earned two early victories last year, finishing Brazilian Alex Oliveira with a guillotine choke and a technical knockout of Serbian Aleksandar Ilic.
