Alexander Shabliy: “I am head and shoulders above Usman Nurmagomedov”

The first number of Bellator lightweight ranking, Alexander Shabliy, who is to share the cage in two months with the current champion of the division, Usman Nurmagomedov, is confident that the level of fighting skill is far superior to his undefeated compatriot.

“I think a lot of people saw our fights with the opponents that I fought and that Usman fought – the latter were the same, it was both Pitbull and Brent Primus,” the Russian fighter said in an interview with MMAJunkie. “And everybody could see what I did to them and what Usman did to them – I didn’t leave them a chance in the stand-up or in the parterre, I took every round clean, so I think I’m head and shoulders above Usman”

At the same time, Shabliy claims that he has not yet received a contract for the fight, which should not only be a title fight, but also to complete the Bellator lightweight grand prix.

“They announced the fight, but I haven’t gotten the contract yet. Hopefully, in the contract, we’ll get the terms that we originally agreed to and that we hoped for. And I hope for the prudence of an organization that takes responsibility to the fighters, to the fans, and has to see it through to the end”

Earlier, the PFL league, which owns the Bellator brand, officially announced that a title fight between Russian lightweights will headline Bellator 303, which takes place May 17 in Paris.
