UFC Fight Night 205 co-main event
The fight will take place on April 24 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex mini-arena and will be the co-main at the UFC Fight Night 205 tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 06:00 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
Undefeated heavyweight from Moldova Alexander Romanov (15-0) will fight against US gatekeeper Chase Sherman (15-9), who, on very short notice, replaces the injured Tanner Boser.
Romanov, who pulled out of his February fight with Ilir Latifi for undisclosed reasons, won three out of four fights in the UFC ahead of schedule. King Kong hasn’t fought since October, when they finished with strikes against Jared Vanderaa in the second round.
In January, Sherman was fired from the UFC for the second time after being choked in the first round by Jake Collier, his third loss in a row. However, Boser’s injury gave Sherman the opportunity to return to the UFC.
Prediction for the fight
Sherman is a good wrestler, but he poses the greatest danger in the standing position, as evidenced by statistics – 14 knockout wins out of 15. At the same time, the striker from Sherman is very primitive in technical terms, and he does not have a strong chin.
Romanov, of course, can try to outplay his opponent on the stand, and he can succeed, but he is unlikely to take risks and exchange blows with such a formidable puncher, while the Moldavian fighter can totally dominate on the ground. Being an excellent and physically strong wrestler, Romanov must declassify his opponent on the ground. It can be a submission finish or a ground and pound finish. The second option seems more likely to us. Sherman, who had no normal preparation for the fight, the only chance to win is a lucky punch.
