Alexander Emelianenko gave an assessment of Anatoly Malykhin’s achievement

Popular Russian fighter Alexander Emelianenko shared his opinion on the achievement of his compatriot Anatoly Malykhin, who earlier this month became the first triple champion in mixed martial arts history by taking the ONE middleweight title from Dutchman Rainier de Ridder.

“Anatoly Malykhin – well done!” said Emelianenko, speaking to reporters at a meeting dedicated to his rematch with Vyacheslav Datsik. “I watched his fight, congratulated him – he showed a good fight.”

“Envious people also spoke out – I don’t know why people always have a toad creeping up and start choking them. Why can’t they be happy for our man, our compatriot, who left, achieved results? Well done! Good fight, good result, good victory

The title fight between Anatoly Malykhin and Rainier de Ridder, which headlined the ONE 166 tournament in Qatar on March 1, ended in the third round after the battered Dutchman refused to get up from the mat and continue the fight.

In December 2022, Malykhin stripped de Ridder of his ONE heavyweight title by winning the fight by first-round technical knockout, and last June, the Russian successfully unified the current and interim ONE heavyweight titles by finishing Arjan Bullard by third-round technical knockout.

Alexander Emelianenko is currently preparing for a rematch with Vyacheslav Datsik, who will headline Ural FC 7 in Moscow on April 12.
