Alex Wolkanowski named a timeline for his return from defeat

After losing early to Elijah Topuria, former UFC featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski still expects a rematch with the division’s new champion, which is scheduled for later this year.

“It’s going to be different next time, but before that I’m going to get some rest,” the Australian said in a video posted on his Youtube channel. “I definitely want this rematch. The UFC tournament in Spain, as far as I’m concerned, is going to happen. Dana wants Spain, Elijah obviously wants Spain as well.”

“It probably won’t happen until the end of the year at the earliest. So, for me, it’s the perfect time to spend time with my family, get some rest, get back to normal and then we’ll come back. Now we’re going to do everything right and I’m going to get my title back. Mark my words.”

The featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Elijah Topuria, which headlined last weekend’s UFC 298 event in Anaheim, ended in the second round with a knockout loss for the Australian.
