Alex Wolkanowski is ready to save the UFC 300 tournament

In the event of a successful title defense against Elijah Topuria, reigning UFC featherweight champion, Aleksander Volkanovski, is ready to return to the octagon in less than two months to headline the UFC 300 anniversary tournament, which is still without a main event.

“From what I understand, they’re having trouble with the main event for the UFC 300 tournament, and I know the guy!” the Australian said while speaking to reporters in Anaheim. “There’s plenty of time. Just so you know. Dana, Hunter, you know the guy! I’m going to get down to business now, ruin someone’s party, or even a few parties, and then after that I can come in and save the day like I always do.”

The title fight between Volkanovski and Topuria will headline UFC 298 in Anaheim on Feb. 17, with the anniversary number show taking place April 13 in Las Vegas.

The day before, the head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White, revealed that he will announce the main event of UFC 300 this weekend at a press conference following UFC 298.

Recall that last October, Alexander Volkanovski replaced the eliminated Charles Oliveira on short notice and took a fight with Islam Makhachev, losing to the reigning UFC lightweight champion by first-round knockout.
