Alex Wolkanowski has named an opponent for the UFC 300 tournament

Reigning UFC featherweight champion Aleksander Volkanovski has revealed who he would share the octagon with at UFC 300 if the organization decides to take him up on his offer to headline the anniversary show.

According to the Australian, he sees no opponents for him in the welterweight and lightweight divisions, so he is ready to challenge the current UFC welterweight champion, Leon Edwards.

“There’s no one at lightweight or welterweight at this point,” Volkanovski said in an interview with Michael Bisping. “We have welterweight, and I’m 100 percent ready to do it. If I don’t have any injuries, I’m definitely ready to fight Leon Edwards.”

Before challenging the Brit, Aleksander Volkanovski must make a successful title defense this weekend against Elijah Topuria, a clash that will headline UFC 298 in Anaheim.

The Australian made two unsuccessful attempts to win the UFC lightweight championship belt last year, first losing to Islam Makhachev by unanimous decision and then knocking out the Russian in a rematch.

Recall that the UFC 300 tournament will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas.
