Alex Volkanovski called the condition for the fight with Aljamain Sterling

Alex Volkanovski called the condition for the fight with Aljamain Sterling

Reigning UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, who defeated Henry Cejudo via split decision over the weekend, needs a more convincing victory over Sean O’Malley if he wants to challenge Alexander Volkanovski.

The current UFC featherweight title holder announced this in another video posted on his YouTube channel.

“I think we can give this fight to Sterling,” said the Australian. “Just don’t call me. Let him win a more significant victory first, and then challenge me.”

“I was not surprised that Sterling beat Cejudo with this decision. Definitely not a robbery, but I’m glad he didn’t call me after that fight. Again, I’m excited about any potential matchup if people want to see it, but my opponent needs to have big wins. The fans need to want to see this fight.”

Alexander Volkanovski will fight his next fight on July 8 at UFC 290 in Las Vegas against the Mexican Yair Rodriguez, who owns the interim title, and the duel between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley is tentatively scheduled for August.
