Former UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira has confirmed his move to light heavyweight, promising to name his next opponent soon.
“I’m coming up! I’ll let you know soon who’s next,” the Brazilian wrote on the social network.
A few days earlier, Alex Pereira, who lost his championship belt in an immediate rematch with Israel Adesanya, reminded the Nigerian that their total head-to-head score including kickboxing fights is still 3-1 in his favor.
Three weeks ago, after losing to Adesanya by a knockout in the second round, Pereira announced a division change, and UFC president Dana White announced that the Brazilian would not get an immediate title shot at light heavyweight and would face one of the top fighters in this weight class. At the same time, former UFC champion in two weight categories, Daniel Cormier, advised Pereira to avoid a fight with Russian Magomed Ankalaev, who, according to the American, is stylistically the most uncomfortable light heavyweight opponent for him.
