Alex Pereira gives advice to Israel Adesanya

Reigning UFC middleweight title holder Alex Pereira believes former division champion Israel Adesanya shouldn’t push for an immediate rematch.

“I don’t care if it’s Adesanya or another guy,” the Brazilian told ESPN Brazil. “However, if I were him, I would say, ‘I’m not going to fight now – I’ll wait a bit and think about what to do.’ But if he wants, no problem. He was a champion and if he really wants it, he has the right to it as he has five title defenses.”

“We got a good fight. He managed to catch me once, so he believes he can beat me. I’m ready to fight him, no problem. To be honest, if I have a choice, Adesanya or another guy, I will choose Adesanya. If it’s up to me, I won’t deprive him of his chance. If he really wants it, then he’s next.”

On November 12 at UFC 281 in New York, Alex Pereira took away the UFC middleweight championship belt from Israel Adesanya, finishing the Nigerian by technical knockout in the fifth round.
