Alex Pereira and Dricus Du Plessis are ready to have a super fight

Current UFC bantamweight titleholder Alex Pereira, who seconds Sean Strickland against Dricus Du Plessis this past weekend, is ready to return to middleweight to challenge the newly crowned champion.

“Maybe do one last middleweight rodeo?” the Brazilian wrote on social media, posting an image of himself holding two championship belts.

“Give it a try! I would be honored to share the cage with you,” the South African fighter replied.

Alex Pereira took the UFC middleweight title from Israel Adesanya in November 2022, winning the fight by TKO in the fifth round, and last April the Nigerian regained the championship belt by knocking out the Brazilian in the second round.

In September, Adesanya sensationally lost the title against Sean Strickland, while Pereira won a challenger fight against Jan Blachowicz as part of a flyweight title fight before becoming the division’s new champion by finishing Jiri Prohazka by second-round technical knockout.

The previous day, the UFC middleweight championship belt changed hands for the fourth time in 15 months, ending up in the hands of Dricus Du Plessis, who defeated Sean Strickland by split decision at UFC 297 in Toronto.

Earlier, Israel Adesanya and Hamzat Chimaev, ranked ninth in the middleweight division rankings, expressed interest in a fight with Du Plessis.
