The quarter-final Bellator Lightweight Grand Prix match between American AJ McKee and Brazilian Patricky Freire will be the main event of the second joint Bellator MMA and Rizin FF tournament, which will take place on July 30 at the famous Saitama Super arena in Japan.
In the event’s second major event, former Bellator and Rizin bantamweight champion Kyoji Horiguchi of Japan and his compatriot Makoto Takahashi will determine the first Bellator flyweight champion to lead the league’s new division.
The joint tournament and its main fights were officially announced by representatives of both organizations.
Recall that the winner of the duel between McKee and Freire will reach the semi-finals of the Grand Prix, where he is already waiting for the Russian Alexander Shabliy, who defeated Tofik Musaev in the quarterfinal match ahead of schedule. In the second semi-final, reigning Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov will defend his title against former divisional champion Brent Primus.
