ACA champion Albert Tumenov criticized UFC champion Leon Edwards

Russian fighter Albert Tumenov, who regained the ACA welterweight title last weekend against Ustarmagomed Gadzhidaudov, doesn’t think his former opponent, Briton Leon Edwards, deserves to be the reigning UFC champion.

“I think right now I would knock him out in the third or fourth round,” “Einstein” said in an interview with the channel “Ushataika”. “He’s a smart fighter, but he’s too cautious and I think he shouldn’t be a champion. There shouldn’t be champions like that in the UFC because he only makes boring fights. He has one knockout, he knocked out Kamaru Usman and that’s it. I’m sure his next fight will be boring too. He shouldn’t be the champion.”

“His fight with Colby Covington is the worst fight I’ve watched in the last year. I woke up for that fight, I watched three rounds, and I didn’t even watch the fourth through fifth rounds. Colby Covington is a disgusting fighter. To say so much, do nothing, and still try to say he won this fight – I’m just surprised. This fight showed that Colby has gotten old. He couldn’t wrestle or counter punch – I don’t know how he won that fight. I don’t think they can beat any top fighter right now.”

In October 2016, Albert Tumenov lost to Leon Edwards by rear-naked choke in the third round, after which he left the world’s strongest league. The Russian is currently riding an eight-fight win streak, four of which have come via early knockouts, including finishing Gadjidaudov with seven seconds left in the fifth round in the quarterfinals of the ACA welterweight grand prix.
