Traktor Sports Palace, Chelyabinsk, Russia. In the main event of the show, local lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) Zaur Abdullaev (16-1, 10 KOs) beat the Mexican gatekeeper Giovanni Straffon (25-5-1, 17 KOs) – the former owner of the championship belt in an insignificant IBO version.

Abdullayev worked because of the high block: he shot with a jab, threw twos. Left-hander Straffon tried to impose power boxing, strove to pinch the favorite at the ropes, tried to throw punches in series, worked a lot on the body – predictably and sweepingly. But worst of all things were in the defense of the guest – he missed everything that flew in his direction.

By the 4th round, Abdullaev’s jab and twos almost completely covered Straffon’s right eye. The favorite began to invest in strikes, tried to combine. The Mexican understood everything and did not go to the 6th three-minute period.

Abdullaev RTD 5.

In the limit of the second featherweight (up to 59 kg), Muhammadhucha Yakubov (19-1, 10 KOs) from Tajikistan closed the defeat in the WBC eliminator with a victory over the Argentine gatekeeper
Carlos Daniel Cordoba (15-8, 3 KOs).

The fight went the whole distance, but was not competitive.

Yakubov UD 10.
