Popular British coach Dave Caldwell in
interview commented on the upcoming fight for the title of absolute champion of the heavyweight division (over 90.7 kg) between his compatriot, WBC title holder Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and the owner of three belts from Ukraine Oleksandr Usyk (20-0 , 13 KOs).

The mentor commented on the prevailing opinion in Britain that the upcoming fight will be entirely in the hands of the British champion because of his natural abilities and boxing skills.

– If we see the Fury-Usyk fight, which seems to take place … Tyson is a favorite for many people. They say he just needs to be able to use his size to his advantage, which Joshua failed to do. But how do you assess Usyk’s chances in this fight? Is it that easy to pick Fury as the winner?

“I don’t think it’s that simple here. I appreciate Usyk. He is the best fighter. He has a great mind, a great boxing career, amazing footwork. But I understand what everyone is talking about is its size. Our fighter is just extraordinary. And not only is he tall, he knows how to use it. He’s tall, he has a lot of reach and he knows how to lean on you, how to use his weight when it comes to clinches. He misses one shot and knows how to make sure he doesn’t miss the next. And when you try to reach him, throw your punches, it will be difficult and you will just run into counter punches. It could just be small punches from a bigger fighter that are harder. This can slow you down a bit and prevent you from using your attributes.

Fury’s plan for the fight with Usyk: “I will hunt down and smash”

I can see how the size would be the difference. If they were both the same size, then I would choose Usyk. If Fury was seven centimeters shorter, then I would choose Usyk. But he’s not, and Fury is great, he knows how to use his attributes. And his attributes are that he can box in different stances and keep the same punching distance, make you fail, break your timing. I think it’s a very, very difficult job for Usyk.

I don’t think it will be the best fight to watch. In the sense that fans want to see drama and action. But from my point of view, I can’t wait to see how this fight goes. Because I think it will be a very smart fight, a great chess game. Really good fight.
