A welterweight fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Gilbert Burns is in the works and is set to fill out the card for UFC 299, which takes place March 9.
This was reported by informed sources close to the situation.
Australian Jack Della Maddalena, 27, is riding a six-fight win streak in the UFC, most recently winning a split decision over Kevin Holland this past September.
Gilbert Burns, 37, will return to the octagon after losing a five-round unanimous decision to Belal Muhammad in May of this year. Prior to that, the Brazilian finished Neil Magny by arm-triangle choke and won a unanimous decision over Jorge Masvidal, thus closing out a loss to Khamzat Chimaev.
Gilbert Burns and Jack Della Maddalena are currently ranked fourth and eleventh in the UFC welterweight division rankings, respectively.
