Is promoter Bob Arum (Top Rank) hinting at something? A poster appeared on the company’s social networks, as if for a duel between two-time Olympic champions – Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) from Ukraine and Robeisi Ramirez (10-1, 6 KOs) from Cuba. Both of them will perform as part of one evening of boxing on October 29 at the Madison Square Garden complex in New York (USA).

Lomachenko will face 28-year-old American Jemaine Ortiz (16-0-1, 8 KOs) in lightweight (up to 61.2 kg), and Ramirez will box with 26-year-old Argentine
Jose Matias Romero (26-2, 9 KOs) from Argentina in the featherweight division (up to 57.2 kg).

The Cuban was supposed to fight against the American ex-world champion Jesse Magdaleno (29-1, 18 KOs), but he was injured in early October and flew off.

Robeisi took Olympic gold in London 2012 in the 52 kg category, and then another in Rio 2016 in the 56 kg weight category.

Vasily became the champion of the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 (up to 57 kg) and London 2012 (up to 60 kg).

Coming fight?

Lomachenko already has a victory over the two-time Olympic champion. On December 9, 2017, also at Madison, he defeated Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux without any problems: he refused to go to the 7th round and cited a hand injury.

How Lomachenko prepares for his return – training video. And Ramirez doesn’t care about two Olympic gold medals.
