A former rival has condemned Jon Jones’ actions

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, did serious damage to the organization by publicly announcing his refusal to headline the UFC 300 anniversary event, former UFC middleweight and bantamweight title challenger, Chel Sonnen, believes.

“UFC 300 is my favorite topic,” “American Gangster” said on another edition of his podcast. “Jon Jones comes out and says, ‘I just got offered to headline the tournament.’ And I have absolutely no idea what’s going on in that guy’s head. There’s a level of stupidity that’s very hard to achieve.”

‘He hasn’t said anything useful, only things that could hurt the company. ‘They don’t have a main event and they’re in a desperate situation, so everyone else they’re going to call – keep in mind, you can dictate terms because they need you!’ That’s what he told all the other fighters on the roster. ‘There’s a small chance he was just lying and then it’s not bad PR, good job, but I think he did get a call’

As a reminder, the UFC 300 anniversary event takes place on April 13 in Las Vegas and remains without a main event for now.
