Magomedrasul Mutayev, a 20-year-old welterweight in the AMC Fight Nights league representing Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team, was shot dead in Makhachkala.
According to the preliminary version, the murder was committed in revenge. Nadyrkhan Kadirkhanov, a 19-year-old native of Dagestan, is wanted on suspicion of committing the crime.
Magomedrasul Mutayev was a freestyle wrestler, and last November the Russian welterweight made a successful mixed martial arts debut, defeating Azerbaijan’s Elgun Yasibov by unanimous decision at AMC Fight Nights 122 in Moscow.
Mutayev was scheduled to return to the cage on February 23 at AMC Fight Nights 123 in Moscow to fight Iranian Keivan Rezae Dalini.
