UFC 270 co-main event
The fight will take place on January 23 in Anaheim (California, USA) at the Honda Center arena and will become a co-main event of the UFC 270 PPV tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 06:30 am Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno (19-5, 2 NC) will face Deiveson Figueiredo (20-2, 1 NC) for the third time in a row.
Figueiredo came into his first fight with Moreno as the reigning UFC flyweight champion with one title defense under his belt, while Moreno was on a three-fight streak.
In December 2020 at UFC 256, Figueiredo defended the title, but failed to defeat Moreno – a draw. A rematch was scheduled for June 2021, and at UFC 263 Moreno, to the surprise of many, managed to finish the Brazilian champion with a rear naked choke in the 3rd round.
Prediction for the fight
Both fighters are excellent grapplers, in terms of standing, Figueiredo poses a lot of danger on his feet due to his powerful punch, however, the champion can have a slight advantage in the stand due to technology.
Overall, the fight should be very competitive, but Moreno has already shown that he has a recipe for defeating Figueiredo and knows how to play against him. Good functional readiness can help Moreno defend the title and win in five rounds.
