Alexander Usik to play MMA legend in Dwayne Johnson’s movie

Absolute world heavyweight boxing champion, Alexander Usik, will take part in the filming of the Hollywood blockbuster “Crashing Machine”, which will tell the life story of the famous American fighter Mark Kerr.

The main role in the movie will be played by Hollywood superstar Dwayne Johnson, who is also the producer of the picture, and Usik will embody on the screen the image of one of the main character’s rivals, the legendary Igor Vovchanchin, who twice met the American under the PRIDE banner.

In the first fight, Vovchanchin defeated Kerr by technical knockout, however, the result was later overturned as knee strikes were deemed illegal. A year later, Kerr lost again to the Ukrainian, this time by unanimous decision.

Another famous fighter who got a role in the movie was former Bellator double champion Ryan Bader, who will play a close friend of the main character Mark Coleman.

Earlier in the network appeared the first footage from the filming of the movie, showing how Dwayne Johnson reincarnated as a veteran of MMA.

Mark Kerr made his mixed martial arts debut in January 1997, winning three tournaments at once – WVC 3, UFC 14 and UFC 15, and the following year he debuted in PRIDE, where he fought eleven fights, winning six victories, suffering four defeats, and one bout with Vovchanchin was recognized as a failure.

The 55-year-old American fighter ended his career in 2009 on a streak of five early defeats, the first of which he suffered in a fight with Oleg Taktarov, losing to the Russian legend with a knee lever.

Recall that last weekend Alexander Usik unified the WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF and The Ring heavyweight titles by defeating Briton Tyson Fury by split decision over twelve rounds.
