Legendary Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko responded to a question about whether he would agree to headline the UFC 300 anniversary tournament if the management of the world’s strongest league offered him a fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
“No, I’m done with MMA,” “The Last Emperor” said in an interview with Ushataika. “I promised, so I keep my word. And actually, I should have done everything in my own time, of course.”
Last February, 47-year-old Fedor Emelianenko made an unsuccessful attempt to take the Bellator heavyweight championship belt from Ryan Bader, losing to the American by technical knockout in the first round, after which he announced the end of his professional career.
Two weeks ago, the Russian reported that he plans to share the ring this year with professional boxing legend Mike Tyson, who agreed to the fight, however, representatives of “Iron Mike” denied this information, calling it false.
In the past, the world’s strongest league has made several attempts to sign Fedor Emelianenko, and UFC head Dana White has repeatedly said that he considers the failed negotiations with the Russian heavyweight his biggest professional failure.
As a reminder, the UFC 300 anniversary tournament will take place April 13 in Las Vegas, and so far remains without a main event.
