Former WBA heavyweight boxing champion Alexander Povetkin has commented on the news that legendary Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko, who ended his mixed martial arts career last year, wants to try his hand at boxing.
“I’ll give him some advice – he doesn’t need to do it. He shouldn’t. Boxing is not MMA,” “Russian Knight” stated. “Boxing and MMA are different things. It’s like pitting me against an MMA champion. Of course, if the fight takes place, I will watch it, I will cheer for Fedya. It’s unequivocal.”
Last week Fedor Emelianenko announced that he plans to share the ring this year with professional boxing legend Mike Tyson, who has agreed to the fight, however, representatives of “Iron Mike” denied this information, calling it false.
Recall that 47-year-old Fedor Emelianenko in February last year made an unsuccessful attempt to take away the Bellator heavyweight title from Ryan Bader, losing to the American by technical knockout in the first round, after which he announced his retirement.
