Roman Dolidze is ready to challenge Khamzat Chimaev

No. 8 ranked UFC middleweight Roman Dolidze, who is set to headline UFC Fight Night 235 in Las Vegas as early as this weekend, doesn’t understand why Khamzat Chimaev is among the division’s top fighters.

“I don’t understand what Chimaev is doing in the UFC middleweight rankings because he doesn’t deserve to be ranked in the division,” the Georgian fighter told The Schmo. “To be in the middleweight rankings, you have to beat middleweights in the rankings. Why he is in the rankings, I don’t understand.”

According to Dolidze, he wouldn’t mind sharing the octagon with Chimaev if he beats Nassurdin Imavov in the upcoming fight.

“I don’t know what his next move will be, but I would love to fight him. I want to fight the best in this organization and this sport, and I’ve always considered Hamzat one of the best. That’s the bottom line. If I get a win this weekend, I’ll probably have to have one more fight before I fight for the title. If it’s going to be Hamzat, or someone else, I’m fine with that.”

A day earlier, Hamzat Chimaev made it clear that he was able to reach a deal with the organization for his next fight, which could take place on April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas.
